Introducing Pivot Cycles Trail 429
Crazy Fast Meets Ridiculously Capable
There’s a saying that you can’t be all things to all people. Fair enough. The clown you hire to entertain-slash-terrorize children at birthday parties, for instance, makes a stunning balloon giraffe, but probably isn’t the professional you’d rely on to prepare your federal income taxes.
So, we understand if you turn a skeptical eye towards the all-arounder—the kind of bike that’s said to climb and descend equally well…the kind of bike that is supposed to work well just about everywhere. But here’s the thing, our new Trail 429 is that proverbial unicorn bike.
This is the evolution of our most popular bike—the Mach 429 Trail. It’s just as fast on the gas as its predecessor, but even better when it comes time to tackle technical terrain.
Completely Redesigned Chassis
We took the original Mach 429 Trail, completely reshaped the chassis and gave the bike a truly progressive geometry. The new Trail 429 is even more capable on technical terrain than its predecessor yet doesn’t sacrifice a thing in the quick and nimble departments.
Effortless handling, incredible power transfer and blazing acceleration are what set the Trail 429 apart from so many other trail bikes.
Entirely New and Progressive Geometry
We took the original Mach 429 Trail geometry and shortened the chainstays to make the Trail 429 even more agile in tight corners. Then we added a bit more stability to the mix by increasing the bike’s reach and relaxing its head angle. Finally, we steepened the seat angle to provide an optimal climbing position.
End result? The Trail 429 is calm and neutral on steep technical terrain, yet fun and flickable on the most twisted trails.
Still Lightweight. Even More Capable
We’ve also given the Trail 429 many of the same strength and stiffness-enhancing features that you’ll find on our gravity-oriented bikes, including a double-wishbone rear triangle, Super Boost Plus rear axle spacing, ultra-wide suspension linkages and burly bearing assemblies.
29 or 27.5+ …
Choose without compromising. The Trail 429 not only lets you choose the right wheel and tire combo for your riding style, it does that without compromising geometry or handling. The Trail 429’s Super Boost Plus rear spacing adds strength and stiffness to the wheels and chassis and enabled us to give the Trail 429 a short rear center for nimble handling while providing outstanding tire clearance for both 29 and 27.5+ wheel and tire combinations.
Top-Shelf Suspension
Dave Weagle’s dw-link™ design provides great traction and downhill control without adding energy-sucking suspension bob or “squat”. The Trail 429 sports 120 millimeters of dw-link™ suspension, driven by custom-tuned, metric-sized Fox Float DPS (Dual Piston System) and DPX2 shocks. Up front, each Trail 429 is spearheaded by a 130mm-travel Fox 34 suspension fork.
